The following characteristics recur consistently across arrangements that produce poor outcomes. Their presence does not establish that a provider is unsuitable, but each warrants explanation before proceeding.
Pricing and process
A definitive price quoted before any cross-sectional imaging has been reviewed. A single figure with no itemisation. Pressure to pay a substantial deposit during the first contact. Payment accepted only by bank transfer.
Time-limited discounts applied to surgical treatment. Clinical decisions are not appropriately influenced by promotional deadlines.
Clinical process
A treatment plan issued from photographs alone. A schedule fixed before assessment. Refusal or reluctance to identify the implant system by name. Inability to say which clinician will perform the surgery.
Absence of any aesthetic try-in stage before irreversible preparation in a cosmetic case.
Communication
Reluctance to provide the warranty in writing. No stated position on remedial treatment or on travel costs associated with it. Consent documentation unavailable in a language the patient reads fluently.
Uniformly positive testimonials with no identifiable source, and before-and-after images inconsistent in lighting, angle or apparent subject.
How to use this list
Each item is a question rather than a verdict. A satisfactory explanation resolves it. What is informative is the pattern: providers exhibiting several of these characteristics simultaneously are those most frequently associated with unsatisfactory outcomes.
Every item above can be checked before any payment is made, and checking costs nothing but the time required to ask.
